Main Street Waterbury is proud to make available the Stephen R. Sasala II Community Partnership Scholarship. This scholarship in the amount of $1000.00 will be presented to a graduating senior from one of the area high schools. That student must have an intended college major of Political Science, Economics, Sociology, or Urban Studies. Mr. Sasala was an outstanding leader who valued partnership and commitment as building blocks to fostering healthy, stable, and productive communities. He advocated for quality planning and policy development. As a leader he practiced and encouraged others to set goals and a course for achieving those. He then worked to stay the course while facing the resulting challenges with optimism. Steve continually provided support for addressing local work in ways that ultimately benefited the more global good. All local communities have their individual challenges and concerns. At the same time they are also involved in the broader issues that come from being part of the regional, state, national, and international picture. Thus positive things that are accomplished at the local level benefit the individual locale and also enhance the broader, more global good. It is Main Street Waterbury's hope that this scholarship will contribute to developing future leaders who will be inspired by the work and spirit of Stephen Sasala as they work to make their own contributions.
